Electronic VNT Controller
Due to popular request across various diesel-performance forums, I've decided to investigate the feasibility of the development of a microprocessor-based controller for VNT turbochargers.

Oops!

06/11/09 - Fixed the first glitch with the vnt turbo. Kris Mason does it again!

Renewed the boost control mechanism with an actuator from a cossie. Bit softer than the diesel unit so creeps a bit helping prevent the turbo from generating too much momentum and overshooting target boost. It won't be perfect but she's holding about 27psi on the last test run which is still a bit more than wanted but is still within the realms of immediate safety.

Performance is down on the test run as i'd also adjusted the vanes to slow spoolup, this was a mistake as there was significant lag till past 2400rpm - but I was content with its performance past this point, and whilst I had some light haze on driving up the road, I was quite impressed how well the turbo cleaned up the usual smog from my modified injectors.

Anyway, plan is to set the vanes back for relatively quick spool up and start concentrating on her exhaust and bodywork now. Might be able to deviate slightly and go for a dyno run once the exhaust is done though. :)
